Wait and Worry, two concepts we’ve been studying for some time now at Mt. Sinai. We’ve learned much, especially the fact that “Waiting on God produces manifestations of Righteousness in Daily Living.”
We’re looking at a portion of The Sermon On The Mount as recorded in Matthew 6.
Worry affects our giving, it affects how we pray and whether or no we get into “storing” things up unnecessarily. i.e. hoarding. The scripture is VERY clear. Note v.25 Worry is sin. Jesus said, “I tell you therefore Do NOT worry …”
God knows that worrying vs. waiting on Him will impact EVERYTHING that we do. In reference to our prayers, worry will make you pray very selfish prayers. Read James chapter 1.
Back in Matthew 6:25, Jesus is pretty specific, when He goes on to say, “Dont worry about what you are to eat, or drink, or about your body, what you are to wear.” Can you imagine? I often go into my closet and almost have fits. But here God is telling us that life is more important that what I can or canot fit into, and how it looks on me. And NO, God is not against us working out, watching our weight, or eating healthy … as a matter of fact we’re commanded to take care of, be good stewards of these bodies as Christians. Why is that? Well Paul answers that in 1 Corinthians 6:15 when he says, “Are you not aware that your bodies are members of Christ?” And in v.19 of that same chapter he asks, ” Or do you not know that your body is a temple of The Holy Spirit within you …” Read it for yourself.
So here’s the deal. Be concerned, yes. Wait on The Lord. “Seek ye first The Kingdom of God and His righteousness …” Matthew 6:33.
But what is the kingdom you might be asking, if so, I am glad you asked. Follow me to Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
So there you go, plain and simple. Dont worry, Be Happy! Besides, in the words of Kirk Franklin, You Look so much better when you smile!
